I met Brian and Akia years ago when I photographed their family. I was so happy when they got engaged and even happier to photograph their big day! When my wife and I found out our baby girl was due just 2 days before their wedding date I was crushed, but offered them a way out and even encouraged them to hire another photographer if they wanted (with a sad, sad, sad heart).
Akia assured me that they always wanted ME to photograph it even if that meant leaving in the middle if my wife happened to go into labor (or bringing her with me and delivering the baby in the back 😉 just kidding.. kind of). So I hired Ben, my second shooter (who rocks by the way) and planned for the best, but prepared for the worst! Luckily my wife and I welcomed our beautiful baby girl a week before the wedding so there was no labor scares the day of. 🙂
Akia was seriously one of the most beautiful brides I have ever photographed and her soon to be husbands’ love for her was enough to melt even the coldest hearts! This couple did a First Look and I am ALWAYS on board with all my clients if they want to do a First Look. I prefer it most of the time! <3 The first time you see the person you want to spend the rest of your life with on your wedding day is one of the most magical things in the world… and this was the most magical of all!!
If you know Brian, you might know he’s a tad emotional when it comes to Akia. If you didn’t know that before the wedding, you might have caught a tiny glimpse of that during the ceremony (seriously, wait until you see those pictures!!!) He wasn’t the only emotional guy standing at the altar – his nephew was so full of emotion too, so sweet!! Their First Look was was pure magic, can I even say that enough? Seeing their love, the way they look at each other… ahhhhh I could write a novel about it. But you don’t have to wonder, the photographs are proof! <3
We had such a great time at their wedding. It was full of beauty, love, laughter, and the yummiest food ever!! They even had a food truck (Felony Donutz) there serving up fried dough. How cool is that?!
Thank you so much to Akia and Brian for letting me be a part of your big day and this crazy journey we call life!
